Freaky Friday Before Halloween Weekly Round up

Well it has been a long time since I did one of these weekly round up type things, I don’t really know where to start.  I will reintroduce myself.  I am a normal 30 year old guy that lives in Upstate NY with my beautiful wife and 2 daughters.  My wife and I both have graduate degrees but that doesn’t mean that we are debt free as we took a few detours to the path of debt freedom ie. 2 lil girls.

I have been blogging since February and I have made a lot of great friends through this from all over the world.  As you will see in the coming few days this site will undergo some construction and some changes to enhance your experience.  I appreciate any and all feed back once completed!!

Take a look at these posts this week that caught my eye:

Certificates Can Be Better Than Degrees at Modest Money

The Inner Workings of a Company Board Meeting at One Smart Dollar

Money Should Make Money Right? at Savvy Financial Latina

And to round it out an interview with J$ over at BudgetsAreSexy… Shh …it is from last Friday though.  I won’t tell if you won’t tell.

Is Halloween a global event or just something we partake in the United States?

Five For Friday and a few more: Still thinking of an catchy phrase edition!

It has been a busy week here at This That and The MBA.  Things are very busy on the work front as we move to completing our cost reports.  This is the bread and butter in how the hospital gets paid.  Without these babies nobody knows our expenses or any statistics.

Here we were blessed and received a page rank of 2.  Thank you big G.

Here are the articles that caught my attention this week:

Daisy at Add Vodka with How running a blog is like running a business

Michelle at Making Sense of Cents with Lifes Little Splurges

Savvy Financial Latina with Gender Roles in Business

Mikey Rox at Money Crashers with How to get a raise or promotion at work

Kurt at My Money Counselor writes Paying Debts in Collections

Jason at WorkSaveLive with How to Retire Comfortably: Start With the End in Mind

Sean at One Smart Dollar with Facebook IPO Date Set for May 18

John at Married with Debt posts about his debt payoff progress.

Stephen at Saving From Scratch with How I paid off my student debt!

As a random side note, my grass is growing like crazy I have been mowing it twice a week for the past few weeks.

Until Monday, keep it random and keep it safe and enjoy your weekend!

Five For Friday: It might snow today in Central NY

This has been a long week at work.  I had a virus on my computer that I am still trying to rectify and I am posting this from my cell phone.  So if there are any errors please email me.  It gets me thinking; while cell phones are amazing running a blog from a phone is not practical.  I can respond to emails and comments but a lengthy post is just not in the cards.

I think in the subsequent weeks I am going to expand the Five For Friday.  If you have any clever naming methodologies please shoot me an email or leave in the comments.

That’s it, enjoy the reading and I will see you on Monday hopefully virus free!

Five For Friday: Figures the weather is great during the week but going to be soggy on the weekend!

It has been a long week. I went out of town on Wednesday night and made a rookie mistake in forgetting to set up a post for Thursday.  Then thinking I could access it from my phone, I tried and remembered that my WordPress hardening tactics worked well as I was not able to access behind the scenes here!  So as frustrating as that was I had a good night golfing afterward.

I was not able to read too many sites this week as I was working hard to complete an audit before I went out of town.  But the few that caught my eye are listed below:

Our Journey – The Disaster That Was March 2012 By Jason at Work Save Live

What is whole life insurance? By Sean at One Smart Dollar

The Buffet Rule: Doest it make sense? By Shilpan at Street Smart Finance

Before Retirement, Eliminate Your Biggest Expense By MyMoneyDesign

Why I Decided to Do an MBA By Dannielle at Odd Cents

I hope your weekend won’t be as wet as it is predicted here.  Maybe *fingers crossed* by saying this it will not rain!  I will see you Monday bright and early!  Oh yah and make sure you come back….ya hear!

Five For Friday: New Logo, Below 200k, Stats are thriving, It is getting warm out, The Goodness is Neverending

What an interesting week it has been.  My Alexa rank dropped below 200,000 thanks to you, really I couldn’t have done it without you so I thank you!!

I had a logo created for my site so take a look and let me know what you think!

This weekend atleast where I live it supposed to be in the upper 60’s so that is making me feel anxious to get outside and do some yard work!

So here they are in no particular order, the Five For Friday!

J  Money on how far would you go to pick up a penny?  So how far would you go?

How far would you let your family go?  Take a look at the article that Michelle at Making Sense of Cents wrote this week.  I really do not know what I would do.

I was dying when I saw this one, look what some people will buy and sell.  AstroGremlin provides us this great one.

This was a guest post on Modest Money but take a look it is a great article on Modesty in clothing.  I know after I leave work after wearing dress clothes all day, it is jeans and tshirt for me!

Short Road To Retirement gives us 9 stocks for the long term.  I like the theory of buying in companies that you know.

I will see you all bright and early Monday morning, enjoy your weekend and be safe!

Five For Friday: I went golfing and my body is sore edition!

The Five for Friday is tough to decide on just five, but here they are in no particular order:

Jeremy at Modest Money talks about the outsourcing, good read and a few sites mentioned if you are looking to go the outsourcing route.

Karunesh’s Chase A Dream site is great, he is very creative just go take a look you will not be disappointed.

For those looking to decorate their house or apartment check this out by Katie @ Along For the Journey, did I mention it is budget conscious too!

Here is a good lesson of you have to look out for yourself because no one else will!  Kari @ Small Budget Big Dreams

Anthony over at Joyful Self-Manager gives us a great review of a few book titles in his repertoire for preaching self management techniques.

There you have it, I enjoyed reading everyone’s site this week.  If you get a chance be sure to check out these sites.  If I left a comment on your site this week, you are doing a great job and keep it up as I enjoy my never ending quest for knowledge!

Enjoy the weekend see you on the flip side!
